Secret Birthday Gloves Revealed!
(JJ modeling)
The gloves are finally done and in their new home with Miss JJ as we speak!
I borrowed the basic shape from an Opera Glove pattern adding my own lace pattern down the arm and turning them into fingerless gloves in the process. I worked from the elbow down to the wrist and realized if I followed the original patterns decreases no human would ever be able to fit their hand in the glove as the wrist was ridiculously small.
There was no option, I was going to have to rip the glove back to re-adjust the sizing. But then I thought since there were a few other things I was not 100% satisfied with (bumpy looking decreases & increases) I would start the second glove with new measurements and if happy with that version, frog the first one and re-do the whole darn thing. Of course this is what ended up happening, so I guess I really made 2 and 3/4 gloves :-)
I'm still not 100% thrilled with them and would use a different yarn/color and/or sized needle to make the bumps and glitches less noticeable next time. But other than that stuff, I think for a first time glove attempt that included many of my own alterations, I think they're pretty good if I do say so myself.
